My name is Agnes Tucker and "Agnes" means "Purity or Pure." I love my name because it truly describes the real me. I was named after my beloved aunt who passed away in 2005. She was Ugandan and also my father's sister. I find my name cool because also Mother Theresa's name was Agnes and she also had ministries all over Africa but mostly in India. My dream is to follow in her foot steps and continue her mission, which was to help the poor.
I was born in July of 1996 in Uganda ( Africa ). I lived in Uganda for 14 years and I got Adopted in 2010 into the Tucker family. During those 14 years I was in an orphanage with my two cousins, Ruth and Nathan, along with my biological brother, Fred. My duty at that age was to be a mother to both my cousins and brother. I have faced life as an orphan; I know how it feels and that's why my heart was touched to make a difference and to touch a orphan's heart.
I am currently a college student, and I have been studying healthcare and international business. The reason I chose these fields is because I can actually save a life of an orphan or anybody if that's the most I can do to help them. I have watched people die in Africa, including friends and some family members. It broke my heart seeing them go yet I couldn't do anything about it. I'm trying to make myself as useful as possible and I think being in international work and having a ministry, I could do a whole lot.
I am an author and I have written a book with my mother about older child adoption. "Fasten Your Sweet Belt" is about matters of being an older adopted child and also the mother's perspective. I plan on writing more in the future and almost twice every year we do a conference and feel free to invite us to speak to your church or any event. I express most of my life as an orphan through writing and if you want to read some stories, click on "MY STORY."
